We will participate in a spiritual fast. It does not involve food, but it places emphasis on our minds and our mouths. During this fasting period of forty days, we will rid our spirits of negative attitudes, mentalities and people. We will endeavor only to be apart of positive conversations and helpful situations, while steering clear of things that can prevent necessary spiritual growth and development.
Things to Avoid: Arguments, gossip, cursing, backbiting, negative people, emotional explosions etc.
Things to Practice more: Handling angry moments with love, learning to be QUIET, preferring to be in “right relationship” instead of being right, No discussion about people unless it is to help them.
Daily Covenant with God: (say this each morning) During this Holy Season, with the understanding that it is my responsibility as a Christian to live my life in a way that is pleasing to God, I do hereby prayerfully and sincerely enter into this Covenant to abstain from the sins of the tongue. I will abstain from cursing, lying, gossiping, negative talk, speaking foul of anyone, over indulgence of food and all other activities that draw me further from God’s Kingdom. If I honor this covenant, my heart will change and I will affect the loves of all that I encounter. I will be positive and uplifting. God expects this of me and my life will be pleasing to Him. If I have anything to say about anyone I shall only speak that word unto God, for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven, My soul, and the soul of the person of whom I speak ill. This is my vow to God as I seek to be a better Christian.

Daily Prayer Holy Father, thank you for the gift of love and salvation. As you sacrificed for me, I make sacrifices to live pleasing to you. Please give me strength to avoid the sins of the tongue and to draw closer to you. As I encounter others, help me to be a true example of Christian servanthood. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen
