Worship is defined as: reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred. ... formal or ceremonious rendering of such honor and homage. This is what a quick internet search will tell us about worship. However, my experience at Calloway UMC this past Sunday really helped me to better identify to the act of worshiping our Lord and Savior.
Sunday services at Calloway could very easily be defined as traditional Methodist worship. It has all the required components and is conducted in a sanctuary that brings you closer to God the moment you arrive. Yet, I would contend that it was so much more than “traditional”. This Sunday, there was a very special feel to the entire experience… as the saying goes - “God is in His house” Pastor Delishia A. Davis delivered an inspiring sermon from the book of Isaiah on the faithfulness of God to the People of Israel and how God is prepared to take “higher” in our relationship with Him. A dynamic preacher, Pastor Davis both informed and inspired those in attendance. She went on to share her appreciation for the people of Calloway and her vision of growth and prosperity for the church. Overall, it was a very uplifting and refreshing experience to honor the Most High God with friends and family at Calloway UMC. I would strongly encourage you as a reader to come out and experience this with us here at 5000 Lee Highway in Arlington VA. All are welcome and we look forward to worshiping our most gracious God with you.
